Xstrata – Rolleston Coal Mine
|START DATE:||July 2012|
The Rolleston Coal Mine is situated 16 kilometres out of the township of Rolleston in Central Queensland, approximately 300kms west of Rockhampton, which is on the south eastern outskirts of the bowen basin. The open cut mine has an expected life in excess of 20 years and with the planned expansion giving it life to 2045, and a production capacity up to 20 million tonnes per annum, its safe to say the mine is here to stay. Being an open cut mine requires the use of draglines and this is where the majority of DB’s work has been. Constructing scaffolds to assist in maintenance works to dragline 1 &2 has been the primary focus.
