The Townsville Marine Precinct project is providing a dedicated marine precinct facility for commercial and recreational use at the mouth of the Ross River in the Port of Townsville.

The project involves the development of a commercial and industrial marina of almost 20 hectares, the scope of works includes; construction of harbour walls, dredging, reclamation of land, construction of wharves, jetties, lift out facilities, permanent buildings and associated service infrastructure for commercial fishing vessels, vessel repair and construction, marine fabrication and other commercial and industrial marine activities.

During the construction phase, the project is employing 400 people over the various stages whilst allowing the preservation of up to 500 existing jobs in the directly affected marine industries.

This is the first time Port of Townsville has entered into an alliance contract to deliver infrastructure of this scale.

This site having a large tidal footprint where mud and water were a massive problem, at times scaffolds were erected in up to 3.5m of water, special training was undertaken to complete the works and the outcome was zero incidents and a happy client.
