Baulderstone – Mackay Base Hospital

The Mackay Base Hospital Redevelopment is located approximately 1km from the CBD and is in the process of transforming the original hospital into a new state of the art medical facility comprising of 318 beds. Redevelopment works include emergency and outpatients’ departments, intensive care unit, coronary care unit, delivery suites, special care nursery, day surgery and operating theatre suite, inpatient surgical and medical wards and mental health facilities.

In addition to the medical facility upgrades and expansion to the visitor and staff car parks, new laundry and store facilities are also planned to be added to the redevelopment.

The three stages include – early works (Stage 1); main acute and IPU buildings (Stage 2), and entry / ambulatory care building / frontage works / refurbishment (Stage 3)

The project is scheduled for completion of all stages by March 2014.

DB Scaffolding has been supplying scaffold works for the 21,000 Square meter perimeter over the past 2 years on both stage 1 and 2, with stage 3 expected to commence around March 2013.
